Fifteen TASC employees ran in the on- and off-road event June 4, 2011, at the University of Virginia Research Park in Charlottesville. At the end of the day, more than 1,000 race registrants, corporate sponsors and individual donors contributed $75,000 to the Project.
For the second year in a row, TASC participated as title sponsor of the University Rover Challenge (URC), an annual international competition for college students to design and build the next generation of Mars rovers that will one day work alongside human explorers on the surface of the Red Planet. For more information about the URC, visit the Mars Society website.
While fun was the order of the day, fundraising was the fundamental goal. TASC was a tournament sponsor hosted by the Foundation which was established in December 2001. The non-profit organization provides educational support to spouses and children of CIA officers killed in the line of duty and officers who die on active duty as a result of accident, illness or other causes. A group of former CIA officers led by the late Richard Helms, former Director of Central Intelligence created the CIA Officers Memorial Foundation. Find out more at www.ciamemorialfoundation.org.
