TASC Founded in 1966

TASC in 1966

Established in Winchester, MA, The Analytic Sciences Corporation (TASC) began serving the US government with modeling, simulation, analysis, and evaluation of integrated navigation and guidance systems. Earliest programs included the Trident Submarine, Minuteman Missile and the Space Shuttle.


1970's

TASC in the 1970s

TASC's efforts grew in the areas of information management and decision support systems for the government, analytical approaches for disposing of nuclear waste, and software engineering for embedded software systems. The company also began working in the technical support area, focusing on issues of reliability, life-cycle cost, and data tracking, and started an economics and management sciences division in Rosslyn, Virginia, for analyzing and supporting government procurement activities.

1978TASC acquired a Virginia-based engineering group with a strong specialty in the areas of reconnaissance, communication, and intelligence. Based in Reston, Virginia, this growing operation has enabled TASC to participate in solving some of the most vital and challenging reconnaissance, surveillance, and intelligence-related systems problems faced by US national security agencies over the last 25 years. During this time, the company established state-of-the-art research facilities and laboratories for image processing, artificial intelligence and microelectronics.


1980's

1983TASC acquired Billerica, MA-based WSI Corporation, a leading provider of value-added, real-time weather information to broadcast media, aviation, agriculture, industry, and government. To strengthen WSI's market position, in 1989 TASC acquired ESD Corporation, which was also a leader in weather information gathering.


1990's

TASC in the 1990s

1991TASC was acquired by Primark Corporation, a global provider of financial, economic, and market research information. As Primark's "technology engine," TASC developed new system architectures for Primark subsidiaries to improve data delivery to clients, revamped internal information systems, and provided special product design and research services.

TASC bought by Litton

1998Litton Industries, Inc. acquired TASC from Primark. With annual revenues topping $5 billion and 500 offices around the globe, Litton is a leader in worldwide technology markets for advanced electronic, defense, and information systems, and is a major designer and builder of surface combatant ships for the US Navy and allied nations.


2000's

2000TASC sold for profit three of its stand-alone commercial operations – Adesso Software, WSI Corporation, and Emerge – to focus more exclusively on government markets and closely-related industrial applications for its technology.

Northrup Grumman Bought TASC

2001In 2001, Northrop Grumman Corporation acquires Litton Industries for $3.8 billion. TASC becomes part of the Northrop Grumman Information Technology Sector.

TASC buys TRW

2002Northrop Grumman acquired TRW, making Northrop Grumman the nation's second largest defense contractor with projected annual revenues of more than $26 billion and approximately 123,000 employees.

TASC buys 3001 International

2008 – TASC, a subsidiary of Northrop Grumman, acquired 3001 International. 3001 provides geospatial data production and analysis, including airborne imaging, surveying, mapping and geographic information systems for domestic and international government intelligence, defense and civilian customers. 3001 becomes part of part of Northrop Grumman's Information Technology sector.

2009Northrop Grumman integrates its Information Technology and Mission Systems sectors. All Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance and advisory services related work was moved into the TASC subsidiary and development project to other units.

The Weapon Systems Acquisition Reform Act (WSARA) of 2009 becomes law to prevent the occurrence of conflicts created when a contractor is used for both advisory support services and the development on a major defense acquisition program. Northrop Grumman has both development and advisory services programs.

TASC Seperates from Northrup Grumman

On December 19, Northrop Grumman sells TASC, Inc., its advisory services business, for $1.65 billion to an investor group led by General Atlantic LLC and affiliates of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. L.P.


2010's

TASC Acquires TexelTek

 

2011TASC acquires TexelTek, an advanced technology company that provides secure cloud solutions to the U.S. government.
